Front Door, Porch and Entrance Hall
Entrance is under an open porch into a hallway with doors to bedrooms, bathroom and dining/office area leading off. Floor area is 15' x 7'6".
The floor is real oak parquet and continuous into the dining/office area. Should you decide to keep this, I have 4 extra packs of new flooring which will be useful for spare if there is any future damage that needs replacing.
Access to the loft area is via a good quality, fully sprung, wooden loft ladder. This makes it light and easy to open and close.
There is an external light repeater panel on the wall, which lights up when any of the outside lights are left on. This will save you £££'s in electricity when your teenage children leave the lights on all over the house.
Front Door and Inner Door
Both doors are red mahogany, half glazed, with high security locks. I hate the idea of a plastic front door, so kept them real wood instead.
Designer Radiator: What that means in practice is, I made it myself (I was a central heating and domestic supply plumber back then). I wanted a very slim, almost non-existent radiator that would not get in the way of moving furniture in and out of the house. The rails are chrome pipe, and the side covers, which hide all the pipe connections, are oak, reamed out at the back so they cover the pipe and sit against the wall.
There is an ornate dado rail all the way around at waist height, and the skirting boards are quarry tiles.
The Porch: The porch is tiled floor to ceiling with very pretty Victorian style picture tiles and pattern, making it very easy to keep clean with a damp cloth.
Front Entrance Steps: There are two steps up to the main front door. This whole design was taken from wonderful holidays in the Algarve, where the grand hotels had beautiful tiles steps leading up to the entrance. So you will see where the influence for them came from.
